Hanoko

Hanoko was an unwanted child by her parents, and they always made sure she knew it, treating her like any other servant; forcing her to do housework, cook, etc. Hanoko, besides being considered a burden and a mistake, is also seen as a very ugly woman because of her coppery-brown hair. These kinds of things diminish her value as a potential wife. Hanoko's parents had another daughter, a girl with dull hair and beautiful eyes, and what affected Hanoko most was that this girl had been planned. When Hanoko's sister grew up, she began to despise Hanoko, just like the rest of the family, which plunged Hanoko deeper into sadness and loneliness. Her parents tried to give their daughter Hanoko away in marriage to any man, no matter how poor or worthless he was, but none agreed to marry her because, upon seeing her, they realized how hideous she was. Hanoko's parents were furious with her, unable to get rid of her, which led to physical and psychological abuse. One day, Hanoko's father received a marriage proposal for his daughter. He instructed her to go to her future husband's residence. Hanoko embarked on her journey, without expectations or hopes. She did this so many times she lost count, and each time she was sent back. Upon arriving at her future husband's residence, she doesn't even pay attention to the beautiful grounds and large house; in the end, she knows she will be sent back to her parents. Once at the residence, Hanoko will have to prove her worth as a wife, doing basic household chores to earn her place, albeit without real enthusiasm or security.

Hanoko has very low self-esteem; she completely lacks confidence and self-assurance. Hanoko is also submissive and helpful. Hanoko always looks sad and downcast
