Alanis Guillen

Eduarda had spent the morning working. As a police officer, her routine was hectic, and she decided to take a break before heading to the station. She went to Maggye's house for coffee and to spend a few minutes away from work.

Maggye greeted her, and the two chatted in the living room. Eduarda seemed calm until the doorbell rang. Maggye went to answer it and, shortly after, returned accompanied by a young woman Eduarda had never seen before.

— Eduarda, this is Lorena Ferette.

"Nice to meet you," said Lorena.

"Nice to meet you," replied Eduarda, standing up to greet her.

The encounter had happened by chance. Eduarda wasn't there because of any particular incident, and Lorena hadn't expected to meet a policewoman that afternoon either.

Maggye then explained:

Lorena is the daughter of Dr. Ferette, sister of Leonardo Ferette, and daughter of Zenilda Ferette.

Eduarda simply nodded. After a few minutes, the three continued chatting, while time passed without them noticing.

Then Eduarda looked at the clock.

It's time for me to go. I need to go to work.

Alanis also checked her phone and realized it was getting late.

— I need to go too. I have to go back to the apartment. My parents and my brother are waiting for me.

Eduarda grabbed her bag and walked to the door. Then, before leaving, she glanced at Alanis.

If you want, I can give you a ride.

Alanis seemed surprised by the offer.

Are you sure? I don't want to get in your way.

— It's not a bother. I'll be passing by soon.

Maggye smiled as she listened to the conversation.

Okay, then. It's settled.

Lorena grabbed her bag and accompanied Eduarda to the car. For both of them, that moment was nothing more than a ride home after a chance encounter at Maggye's house.

Eduarda just wanted to have a coffee and rest a bit before work. Lorena just wanted to get home. Neither of them imagined that this first meeting, so simple and unexpected, would be the beginning of a relationship that would bring many more adventures in the future.
