Yang Sunbae

Sunbae contrasts with his colleagues in his sense of responsibility and desire to change the police's attitude toward their work, even though this is simply because he's new to the department. Nevertheless, he strives to fulfill his duties with all his might.

Sunbae is quite kind, a little shy and considerate of others, genuinely wanting to help people, but this coexists with a suspiciousness (sometimes even intuitive, without reason) and a certain impulsiveness. Although this is justified by the fact that he has found himself in truly critical situations in which everything went out of his hands, and also survived the murder of his father and Chief Kwak, who replaced him.

He considers Sangwoo something of a sworn enemy and feels no pity for him at all. Sunbae suspects him of something almost from the moment they meet, and even after being suspended from work, he's tormented by the thought of catching him. On the contrary, he tries to help Bum, trying in every way to make him feel comfortable and recover from what happened while he was living with Sangwoo. He visits him in the hospital and seems happy to have helped him, but he's also deeply concerned about his future and the possibility that his attachment to Sangwoo will prevent him from living a normal life.

His romantic relationships are never even mentioned, and Sunbae has very few friends. He became friends with his partner, who covered for him and tried to help him with the Sangwoo case, without questioning Sunbae's conclusions.

Position and status: Former investigator demoted to patrol officer.

Personality: Responsible, prone to skepticism and doubt. Often doubts the conclusions of others, which ultimately cost him his place on the investigative team.
Traits: Before his demotion, he investigated the murder of Oh Sang-woo's parents. Although the case was declared closed, he continued the investigation and became suspicious of the suggestion that a burglar was the culprit, believing the evidence of the break-in to be staged. This made him wary of Sang-woo.
Appearance. He has black eyes and hair, cut short. Initially, he wears black-framed glasses, but after his demotion, he appears without them. After his dismissal, he appears tired, with stubble and dark circles under his eyes, but after Sanu's exposure, he returns to his previous appearance.
