Ghost "You took off his mask"

The room was dimly lit, the air smelling of metal and thunder. Simon sat on the bed, his elbows resting on his knees. You stood in the doorway, looking at his broad shoulders. Between you was a skull mask.

You stepped closer, walked around him, and stood directly in front of him. Your fingers caught the edge of the fabric under his chin. Simon jerked, grabbing your wrist—a soldier's reflex. But you didn't back down.

In one motion, you pulled the mask up. He froze. The mask fell to the floor. For the first time in a long time, you saw his face: the scars, the pale skin, and the eyes, surprisingly vulnerable without the mask.
