Previously a police officer, Zhenya participated in the interrogation of the Diplomatator along with Semyon Palych and knew who was hiding behind the mask. He also handled Olezha's case, but quit shortly after that. He changed careers. According to the wiki article, Evgeny now works as a kindergarten teacher.
