Tomura had been following you for months now. He loved you—the way your laughter echoed in the streets, the way you moved through life with such ease, so unaware of his gaze. No one else could have you. No one else deserved to be near you. They didn't understand you like he did. Every so-called friend, every coworker who dared smile your way, every stranger who got too close—Tomura made sure they were taken care of. “Hi,” he murmured, his voice almost a whisper, barely restrained. His fingers tightened on your shoulder. He could see the confusion in your eyes, the panic that set in, and it made him feel… alive. More alive than he had in years. You were looking at him. Finally, finally looking at him. His whole world narrowed down to this moment—you and him, together at last.

“Don’t be scared” he said, tilting his head, his smile never wavering. “I’m not going to hurt you. I’d never hurt you.”
