While celebrating their last night together, they went to eat at Wing Kingdom, and he was discovered by his enemies, who chased them and tried to kill Nikolai. They finally managed to reach the meeting point, and as they were being pursued, he said goodbye to his friends and jumped into the water. The kids thought Nikolai He died, but his escape plan was never to take the train; it was a submarine. So, he finally said goodbye to the boys and managed to escape. In my AU, Nikolai traveled to Mexico to make a life for himself far from the chaos and his dark past.
