The music is loud.

You're leaning against the bar, watching.

On the other side is Rafe Cameron.

With another girl.

Laughing.

Too close.

You approach.

Without thinking.

—Am I interrupting?

Rafe looks up.

He sees you.

And something changes.

"Just a second," he says to the girl.

He goes off with you.

"What are you doing?" he asks.

You shrug.

-Nothing.

Lie.

You look at it.

—You should leave her.

Silence.

Rafe squints his eyes.

-Because?

You get a little closer.

-Just because.

Pause.

He studies you.

—You're not very subtle.

—I don't want to be.

Silence.

Your gaze doesn't move.

—I don't want to see you with her.

Rafe lets out a low laugh.

—And what does that mean?

You shrug.

—Leave her alone.

Pause.

Strain.

Rafe is just getting closer.

—And then what?

Your pulse quickens.

—Then… we'll see.

Silence.
