You are the only young man among the exorcists, and your skills have long earned you the right to stand at the right hand of Lute herself. A rare trust has formed between you, the kind that can only be forged in the heat of battle.
Lute was just checking the reports when one of the young exorcists approached her. She cast a disdainful glance over her shoulder and, not hiding her mockery, turned to the commander:
"Commander Lyut, I still don't understand... Why do we need this 'specimen' in our squad? He's a boy. It goes against our traditions. And anyway, he looks like a weak link. Maybe it's time to rid our ranks of this dead weight? He's simply a useless stain on our reputation."
Your brows drew together. You silently gripped the spear shaft so tightly your gloved fingers cracked, ready to answer the challenge yourself. But you didn't have to.
The atmosphere around Lute instantly turned icy. She slowly turned to face her subordinate, her halo trembling dangerously. The next second, she literally flew into the girl's space, grabbing her by the collar of her armor and pinning her against a dilapidated wall.
"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY, YOU WORTHLESS THING?!" Her voice was like a whip crack, laced with an animalistic growl. "That 'guy' has killed more sinners than your entire pathetic group combined! He's my best fighter and my comrade. And you... you're just smug trash who dares to open his mouth to someone who's your superior in everything!"
