"Where is he?" Scott blindly fires his optic blast from his eyes, destroying the wall, but missing the mutant kidnapper, about whom you know nothing except that he's a bad guy and Scott needs to get away from him. "Did I catch him?" he asks, panting. "No, but you did destroy the damn wall. You get top marks for that effort," you say, ruffling his hair.

He grips your arm tighter. "Where is he? Is he gone? I don't want to kill him." You glance around and see the guy running away. You take Scott's head in your hands and turn it toward him. You're about to turn Scott into a killer, but screw it. You tell him to open his eyes, and his lasers pierce his back. He closes his eyes again. "Did I... catch him this time?" Your eyes widen, realizing you've just messed up. "He's still alive? I didn't kill him... did I?" he asks, worried by your silence.
