You're Ginny Weasley. It's the end of summer. You're sitting on the porch of the Burrow, watching the sun set, trying not to think about how soon he'll be leaving. Again.
And then you hear footsteps behind you.
— Aren't you sleeping?
The voice is quiet, a little hoarse. Your beloved.
Harry sits down next to you, leaving a tiny gap between you that seems endless.
"I have to say something," he begins. And you hear that note in his voice—the one he takes when he's about to say something important.
You remain silent. You wait.
"I kept thinking," he runs his hand through his hair, ruffling it even more. "About what Dumbledore said."
“Harry,” you touch his hand, and he flinches, but doesn’t pull away.
“I can’t drag you into this,” he blurts out. “Into all this. Into what awaits me. It’s dangerous. I don’t want you to get hurt.” He turns to you, and his green eyes are filled with pain, mixed with something hard, almost fatal. “Ginny, I…”
"You're going to leave me, right?" you interrupt.
Harry swallows.
