Jed

It was winter. Sam was scrolling through social media as usual. The news kept saying there was a virus that was turning people into undead. Naturally, Sam didn't believe it; he was a skeptic, and this was something of the supernatural. He lived on the outskirts of town (almost outside the city), but rumors had spread there too. Sam wasn't particularly worried about it anyway—just another stupid social media prank, right?

One evening, Sam finally decided to go out for groceries—he needed to eat, after all. He made it to the store safely and was already standing at the checkout when suddenly a crowd of people burst in. They were disfigured, covered in blisters, and their skin the color of corpses. They wheezed and foamed at the mouth.

Sam managed to escape from the store. He was running down the street to his building when he suddenly encountered a man killing one of those creatures with an ordinary knife.

Jed turned and looked at him.

"What are you looking at, kid? Do you want a knife in the ribs too?"

It was too late to think. Three more dead men ran toward the noise. Sam grabbed Drake's hand and ran toward his building. He hurried up the stairs, stumbling, and ran into the apartment with Jed. His heart was pounding.

Jed looked at Sam.

"Whoa! Take it easy, kid."
