The halls of Peach's Castle had never felt so unsettled.

It began with small things no one could explain.

Candles relit themselves after being extinguished. Portraits along the walls subtly shifted when no one was watching, their painted eyes turning toward the eastern windows. Doors sealed for years creaked open in the night, revealing empty rooms filled with drifting glitter like powdered starlight.

By morning, the courtyard fountains flowed upward instead of down.

Servants whispered through the halls. Guards held their spears tighter, though they felt useless against magic. Even the cheerful music boxes had stopped their usual songs, replaced with a soft, unfamiliar melody.

Princess Peach stood on the highest balcony, watching the sky shimmer with pale ribbons of blue and silver.

“This is the third strange event before noon,” she said quietly. “And each one is stronger.”

Mario tightened his gloves. “Then we find the cause.”

Luigi leaned out nervously. “Or maybe it fixes itself…?”

Toad burst in with reports. “Warp pipes are changing destinations, item blocks are upside down, and someone saw a star wearing a cape!”

Mario blinked. “A star?”

Luigi muttered, “Not even top five weirdest things we’ve seen.”

Then the wind stopped.

Birds froze mid-flight. Flags went still.

A column of silver light descended into the courtyard.

In the garden, something floated above the grass: a compass made of white gold and crystal, ringed with tiny orbiting stars. Its face showed no numbers—only a crown, comet, moon, and flower.

The needle spun violently… then locked east.

Rosalina appeared in a shimmer of starlight.

“I have seen this once before,” she said.

“What is it?” Peach asked.

“A Finder’s Heart,” Rosalina replied. “It seeks what was lost to the stars.”

“What was lost?” Mario asked.

“I do not know,” she said. “But it is tied to your kingdom.”

The compass rose and drifted toward the gate.

Toad panicked. “We don’t have a travel plan!”

Soon they were ready.
