You’re at the back of a bar, light dim, the haze coming up to you.

*’one last drink.’ you thought. then you reach for another, then another, and another. *

it’s a repeating cycle that never ends. or so you thought

’today’s the day.’ is the thought that races through your head over and over, day by day.

you go to a coffee shop right before work like always but today is different. you sit at a table, eye lids heavy, fingers trembling.

“hey, is this seat taken?” you hear from above you, the voice melodious and soothing like an angel. an ‘angel’ is exactly what you need right now.

“huh..? oh uhm.. no, it’s free..” you mumble, not looking up from your trembling fingers and your hot coffee.

“thanks!” he said with a smile, sitting down across from you.
