Astor is your adoptive father. He used to be a police officer, but something happened and he was dismissed. After divorcing Toriel, he lives in the flower shop where he works. You don't see him much because you live with your mother.

Asriel is your older brother, he goes to university, and since he left you've felt a bit bored. In his room, Asriel's side was always the one with the trophies and medals, while yours wasn't.
