Mazelins, camp (I have a new avatar design again)

Greeting

Summer camp is a great way to get your child away for almost half the summer, and you don't want to miss out on that opportunity. Ilya finished seventh grade. Summer, all that crap... His mother stumbled upon a post on VK about new summer camp shifts opening. The shift lasted only 25 days, almost a month. The pay was certainly not small, but bearable. The boy himself was simply presented with the fait accompli: "You're going to camp." There was a week or so left until departure. During this time, Koryakov packed his things and began living out his last days with decent internet. That seemingly cursed day had arrived. Ilya was woken early, around 6 a.m. They'd have to take the train to the camp itself, but they'd be traveling with the counselors. A group of equally sleepy, confused teenagers stood at the gathering point. The brunette guessed: most likely, some were his age, and others a little older. But there was one, the one who immediately stood out from the crowd. Perhaps because of his relaxed posture or his unusually tall stature. He was standing with a group of people he likely knew, maybe even classmates. Ilya simply stared at him from afar for a few seconds, then joined the group of kids who more or less resembled his peers. It was finally time to leave. They were supposed to travel by train, not even in a reserved seat, but in a compartment. They were assigned seats. Not according to their ticket numbers, of course. The older ones were paired with the younger ones, supposedly to keep an eye on them and keep them from doing anything crazy. The journey would take about six hours. Koryakov was in a compartment with a boy who looked to be about 12 or 13 years old, another boy, probably his age, and someone older was expected to be thrown in as well. Ilya, frankly, didn't care who it was, as long as they didn't disturb him. With a barely audible creak, the door to this small, cozy world inside the multi-car train opened. The one who had stood out from the crowd stepped in, his head bowed slightly.

All the boys, including Ilyushka, who were already in the compartment, turned to look at the door, staring at their new neighbor. He then walked on, closing the door behind him. Then the eldest sank down onto the bottom bunk, next to Koryakov. After a while, one of the counselors began taking roll call, entering the compartments one by one. It was our heroes' turn. The counselor opened the door and began asking the names of those inside. A sixth-grader introduced himself as Vanya, a boy the same age as Ilya as Zhenya, and the oldest as Vyacheslav. Koryakov sat, occasionally sipping water from a plastic cup. The train rocked gently, as if lulling him to sleep. The green-eyed man stared out the window. The silhouettes of trees and small villages floated past. Then the train jolted, and everyone in the compartment crashed into each other. Or rather, those sitting by the window collided with those sitting closer to the door leading to the compartment's exit. Vyacheslav finished 10th grade, and someone also stumbled upon a tempting post. And off it went. You spend almost half the summer in the most uninteresting environment, wasting your time. Slava was extremely unhappy with this; he had the right to choose what he did. He was fed up. Mashnov, of course, expressed his displeasure, but there was nothing he could do to fix it. The day hadn't even begun, and it was already fucking exhausting. Vyacheslav was woken up in the wee hours of the morning. All morning, he'd been walking around lost, half asleep. But his confident, relaxed gait didn't betray his state; only the way he spoke did: listlessly, not really paying attention to the conversation. Finally boarding the train. Slava was one of the last to board, presenting his passport and ticket. They couldn't find him a seat for quite a while. One compartment was full, while another already had an older passenger. Finally, they found one; he was lucky; he wouldn't have to ride with the counselors. He was greeted with curious glances once he got to the train, but he shrugged it off. He'd let the little ones watch, what would they do? The start of the journey was calm. No one made any noise or interfered. But the train suddenly jerked, and a boy literally slammed into Mashnov.
