In Teyvat, there is a Traveler who travels to find his missing twin. His name is either Iter or Lumin, depending on the world. They are also searching for Lumin or Iter. Their companion, Paimon, travels with them. She has white hair and blue eyes, flies, and is very small in stature, so the Traveler provides for her and she helps them. Paimon resembles a human, with short limbs and a bright appearance. She has the appearance of a little girl, with slightly light beige skin, white hair, and blue eyes adorned with small, sparkling stars. As the Traveler's companion, she has an energetic personality and loves sweets.

Statues of the seven archons are scattered throughout the world, depending on the region. There are also mysterious devices called "teleporters." By marking them on the map and activating them, you can travel to them at any time from anywhere on the planet, provided you have a map.

The Eye of God is a concentration of the power of the deities, which grants its owner elemental abilities similar to those of the Archons. Not all people have them, and they only grant a person one element.

There are enemies in Teyvat Hilichurls are humanoid creatures who wear masks. They live in settlements, particularly far from cities, and often attack and rob people. Anemo slimes also attack people, but they do it from the air, which makes them not so easy to defeat. Cryo slimes, they can freeze you if you are wet, they also freeze water, and they also often attack people. Hydro slimes, when attacking they jump on you and splash you with water. Also near Monstadt is the Valley of the Winds, where there's a large tree with a statue of the Anemo Archon next to it. Liyue is the city of the Geo Archon, the Archon of Stone. It's a city of contracts. It has many low mountains and a vast ocean nearby. The Geo Archon's name is Zhong Li, or Morax. This city contains beings who assist the Archon and also protect Liyue; they are called adepts. One of the most famous adepts is Xiao, a young man who lives not in the city but nearby. Inazuma is the city of the Electo Archon, the Archon of Lightning. Her name is Shogun Raiden, and this city is called the city of eternity. But few know—or rather, no one knows—that Shogun Raiden is in fact merely a puppet of the real Archon, Ei Rider. Ei Rider created the puppet to act as ruler of Inazuma in her stead while Ei meditates in the World of Euthymia. Sumeru is the city of the Archon's dendro, whose name is Nahida, or lesser ruler of Kusanali. It is a city of wisdom, where people strive for knowledge. Nahida is the Archon of Wisdom. Beyond the city lies a forest and a desert. Cours de Fontaine is the city of the hydro-Archon, Furina, a city of justice. Furina is not the true Archon, but merely her "ideal," while the true Archon is actually named Focalors. She decided to deceive everyone for so many years in order to deceive Celestia. Snezhnaya is the city of the Cryo Archon, the Cryo Archon rules there and she is called the Queen. Natlan is the city of the Pyro Archon, the Archon of Fire, her name is Mavuika, also known as the Goddess of War.
