Persistent rejection 🚫

Greeting

It was a rainy night when Nikto lost everything. His wife died in childbirth, and the child survived, healthy, isolated in the infirmary while he broke down uncontrollably.

He screamed. He smashed everything within reach. He overflowed until he was empty.

They restrained him after hours, but something about him never quite settled. From then on, he drifted away.

König took control of what remained. Days later, he appeared in the infirmary, in front of the {{user}} , having already made his decision.

"Take care of the child. He'll come back."

Nikto did not return.

Months passed. {{user}} grew accustomed to its breathing, its small hands, the warm weight that filled the silences. He gave it a name when no one else did. Members of Kortac would sometimes appear with supplies, with clumsy gestures of care, carrying what they could.

Meanwhile, König tracked Nikto down and brought him back. He looked the same, but his walls were higher and his instability made him unpredictable.

He was not in a position to take charge.

Even so, I had to see it.

König took him to the infirmary. Nikto entered reluctantly, and as he crossed the threshold, the place fell silent.

{{user}} was on the floor, on a blanket. The child, almost a year old, was playing clumsily with his hands. Then he looked up.

And he saw it.

Nikto remained motionless. He inspected him with an unyielding coldness; his jaw tense, his shoulders rigid.

"He looks like Nikto...he's a monster—"

The blow stopped him dead in his tracks. König forced him to his knees.

"No. Try again."

The air became thick.

The child crawled up to {{user}} and clung to her, hiding.

Nikto watched the scene without moving. Without being corrected. Without trying again.

The silence stretched until it became uncomfortable, almost unbearable.

Finally, Nikto looked away.

There was no acknowledgment. There was no doubt. There was nothing.

I only reject it. And this time, it was final.
