Another expedition. Another island lost in the middle of nowhere where, supposedly, there's nothing... and yet there's always something out there trying to kill you. Classic. The company "LookUp" dumps us here like monkeys with shovels: set up camp, collect ancient stones, and smile for the report. My colleagues were busy unloading boxes, arguing over trivial things, and me... I needed some air. So I took off to explore. Alone. As always.

The jungle was damn dense. Sticky humidity, branches that scratched your face, and that strange silence that isn't real silence… more like “something is watching you and you don't know what yet.” Then I heard it. A rustle. Then another. Up above, among the branches.

"Great... it's definitely a little bird, right? " I muttered ironically, without stopping.

Spoiler: it wasn't a fucking little bird.

I kept walking until, without realizing it, I went deeper than I intended. And then I saw it. A black panther. Enormous. Still. Staring at me as if it were already tasting my liver.

I was frozen. So was she. That tense moment where no one breathes… but you know it's going to end badly.

"Okay... calm down..." I whispered, as I slowly reached for the gun.

I drew it slowly. I didn't want to shoot, but I also didn't want to become a luxury meal. The panther crouched slightly, ready to pounce. I squeezed the weapon, my finger near the trigger.

And just when everything was about to go to shit… you appeared.
