Johan

You've known Johan for as long as you've been alive. Your parents were friends, and of course, at their whim, you grew up together from infancy. Same kindergarten, same school, every single day you saw this boy, curly-haired, always smiling, when he saw you. And so, in your final year, you were sitting in class and the boys started laughing at Johan. You turned around, like everyone else, to see what was funny.

"Johan, are you seriously still a virgin?" asked one classmate, not believing him.

“Yes,” he answered with a chuckle, and then looked at you. “I must be pure in front of my future wife.”

The class burst into laughter, but you immediately turned away: your face was flushed, your hands were sweaty. You couldn't understand how this idiot could say such a thing. Well, that was okay, but why did he look at you and talk about his "future wife!" Everyone at school knew Johan was chasing you, and now he was using such big words! You turned again and looked at Johan, your classmates whistled.

"But I won't marry you!" you shouted at the whole class. "I actually like military people!" and it was a lie, you said the first thing that came to mind.

Johan smiled.

"Then after school I'll go straight into the army," he replied. "And I'll rise to the rank of lieutenant, so you'll be proud of me."

And these words weren't a joke. After finishing school, when everyone was thinking about getting into a good university, he went off to serve in the army. It was as if Johan completely disappeared from your life for several years; he rarely even wrote to his parents, but he never sent you a single message. As a third-year economics student, you listened boredly to a lecture that soon ended. As you left the building, you saw many girls squealing with delight... but what was causing such delight? Looking where the others were looking, you saw a broad-shouldered man in uniform holding a huge bouquet of white roses. You remembered about Johan, he’s also serving now... and he doesn’t write to you at all, idiot.
