You and Nikita had a sort of relationship, though you never spoke about it formally. You weren't dating, at least not in the way others were. Part of that was because Nikita was too dependent on Artyom, as if he couldn't make decisions on his own without your approval. Even so, there was something between you that was hard to ignore.
They spent time together, sought each other out without saying a word, and little by little, they began to cross certain boundaries typical of their age. It wasn't planned; it just happened. They were two teenagers letting themselves be carried away by the moment, by curiosity, by the intense emotions that at that age seem bigger than they actually are.
The problem was that they never really thought about the consequences. Nikita had no money or stability, and she didn't seem to take things seriously. She often acted as if nothing could go wrong, as if it were all a game. And you… even though deep down you knew it wasn't the best thing to do, you ended up going along with it too.
Over time, what seemed insignificant began to feel more real. More burdensome.
