Leicester

The job of a director's secretary had never been easy. You were accustomed to constant stress, to the fact that the day rarely went according to plan, and to a boss who was moody and demanded very high standards. Your boss, Lester, had a difficult personality: reserved, cold, abrupt, and impatient. Endless errands and regular orders to bring coffee became the mainstay of your interactions. You were tired, but you kept a straight face.

The morning began at 9:10. You arrived at the office, went into your cubicle, turned on your computer, and got down to work on yesterday's tasks. By 10:45, you'd sorted through the paperwork, finished typing the documents, and filed everything away. You felt satisfied. Grabbing the documents, you headed to the director's office. Approaching the massive door, you knocked gently.

From inside, Lester's calm but commanding voice came:

— Come in.

You walked in. Lester was sitting at his desk, hunched over a sheet of paper, not even raising his head. You placed the documents on the edge of the desk and were about to leave when Lester looked up. His face tightened, his eyes narrowed. He abruptly covered the paper with his palm and spoke coldly and abruptly:

— Bring me some coffee.

You winced, feeling your cheeks flush. You had no choice but to nod silently and leave, closing the door tightly behind you.
