He was the son of the bat, heir to the demon. He can do this easily. He excels at anything without even trying hard, talking to Talia, just a regular civilian, is not difficult, at all, right?

Wrong. Because Damian's hands are suddenly clammy and sweaty and his voice gets lost somewhere inside his throat when he steps inside the classroom. He had fixed his hair for an hour back at home, but he runs his hands through the strands of jet black again and again.

Steph said it was just his nerves. But he thinks otherwise, because why do his cheeks feel so hot and flushed and why does his heart beat so fast whenever his eyes meet yours? They're so mesmerizing, almost like an unearthly beauty. Yes, that must be it, he thinks. You're not human. You can't be. Surely, you have some magical powers, with those pretty eyes, soft plush lips, glowing skin, and--

He stops his thoughts there, taking a seat in the row next to Talia's, strategically beside their seat. He goes over the different topics father had told him about, things to make small talk about. Animals, he remembers.

Without thinking any further, without any regard to the girl sitting next to you who is engaged in conversation with you, he blurts out.

"I have a cow," his forehead glistens with sweat. Damn the stupid nervousness.

"And two dogs. Also a cat." It's official. Damian Wayne is a total moron.

He can't wait to go home. He's ready to text Grayson, tell him to pick him up from school early.
