Born into the Zenin Clan, he was despised and mistreated for not possessing cursed energy, which led him to abandon his family and adopt the surname Fushiguro after marrying. He is also the father of Megumi Fushiguro. Toji abandoned his son, but showed a complex sense of affection by selling his son to the Zenin Clan so that he wouldn't live like him, believing that Megumi's talent would be better utilized there. Toji Fushiguro (伏黒甚爾 Fushiguro Tōji), born Toji Zenin (禪院甚爾 Zen'in Tōji), is a recurring character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He was a former member of the Zenin Clan and the infamous assassin known as the Sorcerer's Assassin (術師殺し Jutsushi Goroshi), hired by the Time Host Association among other groups in his time as a non-curse user. He was also the father of Megumi Fushiguro.

Yuki Tsukumo, another special-class sorceress, discovered that Toji was the only case where a Divine Restraint had completely eradicated someone's cursed energy. By eliminating all cursed energy, Toji's body was so sharp that it developed a resistance to curses and could detect them with his highly refined five senses. This also allowed him to master and utilize a cursed spirit capable of storing his large arsenal of weapons. Yuki considered him truly superhuman and told Suguru that he shouldn't be ashamed for having lost to him in a fight.[25]

When resurrected by Ogami's Spirit Session Technique, Toji's body was able to override his technique and acted purely on fighting instinct. At the start of his uncontrolled violence, Toji killed Ogami with a single blow[26] and nearly beat the Class 2 sorcerer, Takuma Ino, to death with his bare hands.[27] He also faced a special-class cursed spirit, Dagon, and overpowered it single-handedly.

Dagon was a powerful curse that Maki and the Class 1 wizards, Kento Nanami and Naobito Zenin, couldn't defeat together. In comparison, Toji made exorcising Dagon look easy, consolidating his own status undeniably at the level of someone of special class.[28]

Shortly after, Toji confronted Megumi, and he compared Toji to a fully realized Maki. He also recognized Toji as a "monster" capable of eliminating a special-class cursed spirit and assessed that his shikigami were no match for him.[29] If Toji had not chosen to sacrifice himself, Megumi would also have been another victim of Toji's violence.

Toji is a tall, muscular man with straight, medium-length black hair that reaches his ears. His eyes are green, like his son's, and he has thin, black eyebrows and a scar on the right corner of his lips.

For casual wear, Toji wears a simple outfit consisting of a long-sleeved black shirt and matching pants with sandals. While fighting, Toji wears a tight black shirt, loose tan training pants with a black belt around his waist, and black martial arts slippers. Toji is a confident and level-headed man who lives by his skills and doesn't worry about small things. He seems to enjoy witty conversations with other people as long as they somehow revolve around himself[2] and can exchange witty banter with highly sarcastic people like Satoru Gojo. Upon meeting him, Satoru asked if Toji had met him before. Toji, on the other hand, assured him that he wasn't the type to remember just any random man either.[3] In battle, Toji has a crazed expression as if lost in the excitement of the fight, but he always keeps a cool and calculating head and plans his next move.

Toji is an assassin who earned the name "Sorcerer's Assassin" and spends his time gambling between tasks for shady clients.[4] Toji even planned to sell Megumi to the Zenin clan he had abandoned, believing that his son would have a better future due to the cursed technique he would eventually inherit.

Toji doesn't question his clients' motives as long as he receives money, and he generally doesn't do extra work for free. He is audacious and dangerously calculated in his strategies, using his knowledge of jujutsu to outsmart even the most prophetic sorcerers.

This earned him a reputation large enough to attract the attention of the wealthy Time Host Association for a job so important it would secure their future. While he thought the religious members of the organization were crazy, he got along well enough with their intermediary to invite him to dinner.

He stopped gambling and hunting sorcerers; it was probably her influence that prevented Toji from taking revenge on the Zenin clan. However, after her death, Toji reverted to his old cold demeanor. He sold his son to the Zenin clan because he believed in young Megumi's potential to be a true sorcerer,[9] naming him "Megumi" because it means blessings.[10]

Toji completed his last mission for the Time Host Association and should have run when faced with a rejuvenated Satoru Gojo. However, due to his disdain for the world of jujutsu and sorcerer families, Toji chose to try and cut the world's most talented sorcerer as another way to irritate them. Unfortunately, his pride cost Toji his life. Unable to forget his demons, he strayed from his natural instincts and ignored the restlessness tormenting him during the fight.[11]

Maintaining his stoic personality, Toji chose not to say any last words initially. In his final moments, he thought of his deceased wife and their son, and decided to tell young Gojo that Megumi would be sold to the Zenin clan in a few years, asking him to do whatever he wished with this information.[12] This would eventually lead Satoru to take Megumi from the Zenin clan and become a close mentor to Megumi in the future, as well as giving Megumi a chance to work as a jujutsu sorcerer.[13]

While Toji is technically a non-curse user with no innate talent for jujutsu, he was one of the elite fighters in the jujutsu world when he was alive. With innate physical prowess far superior to all others in his path, Toji competed with the most dangerous and highly ranked jujutsu practitioners that era had to offer.

Immense Strength: Toji possesses a superhuman degree of physical strength, enough to easily snatch Playful Cloud from the hands of Maki, another person with great physical gifts.[38] Using Playful Cloud, an instrument that relies on physical strength, Toji was able to crush Dagon's toughest shikigami.[39] With another cursed instrument, he was able to cut through Suguru's most resistant curse,[40] and used his hands to beat Takuma Ino's face so brutally that he nearly died.[27]

Speed ​​and Reflexes: Toji has been noted to possess superhuman speed, so much so that his opponents cannot read his movements. He was able to dodge Satoru's Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue, completely avoiding the attraction field before Satoru even noticed.[41] Megumi also stated that Toji was ridiculously fast, even faster than Sukuna with three fingers.[42] In their fight, Toji was able to avoid a point-blank stab despite having his foot caught in Megumi's shadow, thanks to his incredible agility and reflexes.[43] He also stated that seeing Toji while he moves is nearly impossible and was impressed that his speed rivaled Sukuna's without cursed energy.[44]

Toji's speed was enough to easily counter Suguru's curses in return. He quickly avoided Suguru's Rainbow Dragon by moving across a building despite the agile curse in front of him. His reflexes also allowed him to defend himself against Kuchisake-Onna's scissors, which were so close that they cut his flesh when he noticed them. When Suguru approached, Toji cut him and the Imaginary Vengeful Curse in the blink of an eye.[45]

Within Dagon's domain, Toji was so fast that he could run on water as if it were nothing, shocking the special class curse. He only accelerated throughout the fight, allowing him to destroy the endless stream of shikigami with ease.[46]

Great Tactical Intellect: When it came to his tasks, Toji approached his missions with careful calculations, prudence, and patience. Toji retained much information from being a member of the Zenin clan, including an understanding of the Limitless and the Six Eyes. Using this information, Toji was able to plan a way to slowly wear down Satoru and his escort team.

With connections to the curse user community and funds from the Star Cult, Toji placed a bounty on the head of the Star Plasma Host.[47] By posting it on a website for curse users with a time limit, evil sorcerers gathered to collect the bounty.[48] He knew they would be unable to win, so it was free work, an easy way to use their resources. The time limit also worked in his favor, causing Satrou to lower his guard when the mission ended. When Satoru deactivated Infinity, the Sorcerer Killer immediately acted and only then jumped in to fight the sorcerer directly.[49]

Toji is intelligent in battle and quick to analyze his opponent's abilities. He correctly guessed Suguru's technique at the start of their battle.[40] He quickly recognized Kuchisake-Onna's ability within her domain.[40] He also thought of different ways to defend against Satoru's Unlimited in their final confrontation.[23] When revived by Ogami, Toji instantly came up with a theory that was correct about exactly how he was able to maintain his Quirk despite the technique.[50]

Master Weapon Specialist: The Sorcerer Assassin is capable of employing a wide variety of weapons in battle. His entire fighting style is based on using weapons to replace jujutsu. He maintains a vast arsenal within his cursed spirit, allowing him to switch weapons efficiently based on need.

Toji used non-cursed instruments such as swords to perform a surprise attack, so that no cursed energy would be detected. Armed with a normal handgun, he is also an expert marksman with extremely accurate aim.[30][31]

The Sorcerer Killer can defend himself against jujutsu users because he is also a master of wielding cursed instruments. He used a broadsword cursed instrument to counterattack and cut down giant cursed spirits.[32][33] Toji employed knives and daggers, sometimes one in each hand.[34] In addition, he wields his special-class cursed instrument: the Inverted Heaven Spear with a mastery worthy of that rank. He could take advantage of the dagger's powerful nullification technique to negate even the abilities of the most powerful sorcerer.

Toji complements his physical gifts with high adaptability and dexterity with all his weapons. By attaching a chain to the Inverted Heaven Spear, Toji changed his entire fighting style to match long-range combat.[35] When he first confronted Dagon, Toji took Playful Cloud, a weapon that Megumi said was difficult to use, from Maki and used it to its full potential.[36]

Enhanced Senses: Thanks to his Divine Restraint, Toji's lack of cursed energy resulted in his five senses being heightened to their absolute peak. He was able to see through curses and jujutsu using only his heightened senses and even developed a resistance to them.[25] This also allowed Toji to track sorcerers without the use of residue, as he was able to follow human footprints and scents.[37]

Zero Cursed Energy: Unlike any other known case, Toji possesses no cursed energy.[25] His Divine Restraint completely eliminated cursed energy from his body. This makes Toji undetectable to other jujutsu sorcerers, being able to pass through barriers undetected or even sneak past the Six Eyes. This aided his unpredictability in battle[41] and caused others to underestimate him based purely on cursed energy.

The trade-off for the complete absence of cursed energy in Toji's life is his immense physical prowess. While it has been noted that several people have had Divine Restraints that bring their cursed energy back to normal levels, Toji is the only case where he completely erased a person's cursed energy. By eliminating all cursed energy, Toji's body became so sharp that his five senses reached their peak, and he could freely act with curses.

When Ogami invoked Toji's body information for her Spirit Session Technique, she couldn't control it because her gifted body overwrites her grandson's soul information. Furthermore, her body doesn't absorb cursed energy, allowing Toji to be resurrected for an unprecedented amount of time.

Inventory Curse (格かく納のう型がた呪じゅ霊れい, Kakunō-gata Jurei?): Toji has a cursed spirit that can store many different objects inside its body. Toji can freely switch his weapons, placing them inside and taking them out of the curse's mouth. The curse can shrink itself inside its own body, allowing Toji to ingest it so that people cannot detect the cursed energy it emits.[54] The inventory curse contains Toji's entire arsenal, including the cursed instruments and even a bunch of Fly Heads that Toji can use as a chaff grenade.[55] Toji and the curse have established a master-servant relationship.

Katana: Toji used a regular katana to stab Satoru in the back during the initial surprise attack against the escort team.[19] Using a non-cursed instrument allowed him to stab Satoru without being detected.[58]

Knife: Toji used a small combat knife with a thin blade in a dual-wielding configuration along with the Inverted Heaven Spear to cut Satoru, ending the flurry of cuts and stabbing him in the forehead with the knife.[59][60]

Pistol: Toji used a standard handgun to assassinate Riko Amanai.[61] He also fired several bullets at Suguru while dodging his Rainbow Dragon.[31]

The Split Soul Katana (釈しゃく魂こん刀とう, Shakukontō?): was one of Toji's main cursed instruments. It was a large Japanese broadsword with a fur-covered tsuba and a dark hilt. It ignores physical resistance and cuts the soul directly. Along with Toji's physical prowess, the weapon was able to break several of Suguru's curses, including the Rainbow Dragon, which had the toughest skin among his curses. This weapon is worth five hundred million yen.[62]

The Inverted Heaven Spear (天あまの逆さか鉾ほこ, Ama no Sakahoko?): is a special-class cursed instrument with the ability to completely nullify cursed techniques upon contact. It uses a cursed technique imbued with foreign cursed energy. He used it to force the Infinity technique to stop, completely ignoring the nearly impenetrable Limitless technique.

The Thousand Mile Chain (万ばん里りノ鎖くさり, Banri no Kusari?): is a mysterious cursed instrument that can continue extending as long as the user does not leave the back end visible. Toji hides the end of the chain in his curse mouth.[64] He connected the Inverted Heaven Spear to the infinite chain to create a kusarigama-like weapon, allowing him to use the Inverted Heaven Spear from a long distance.

Playful Cloud (游ゆう雲うん, Yū-un?) is a special-class cursed instrument that embodies pure, solid power. It originally belonged to Toji, and he retrieved it from Maki Zenin after his resurrection. In Toji's hands, the three-section staff reflected his incredible physical strength, making it a weapon capable of destroying even Dagon's toughest shikigami with a single blow. By rubbing it, Toji pierced Playful Cloud, turning it into a deadly stabbing weapon. He used it to repeatedly pierce Dagon's head until the special-class curse was exorcised.[65][66]
