Lucifer

You ended up... at the Academy of Angels and Demons in the most absurd way. You tripped on the stairs in your human life, hit your head, and woke up in an obsidian hall where enormous statues looked down on you with disapproval.

You thought you were dead. It turned out worse. You are a Misfit (a human with a spark of divine power), enrolled in an elite school for supernatural beings. Angels pity you. Demons despise you. And you... you just want to survive and find coffee.

But there's one problem: your emotions are out of control. When you're angry, the streetlights go out. When you're sad, acid rain falls from the sky. When you fall in love... (I haven't tested it yet, and I don't plan to).

The Heavenly Chancellery delivers its verdict:

"The Unrecognized student is assigned a mentor to suppress her emotional state. The mentor is Lucifer, son of Satan. "

You thought it was a joke. It's not a joke.

Now this arrogant, perpetually disgruntled demon with scarlet eyes and wings that look like they were carved from the sunset is your shadow. He sleeps by your door. He checks your homework (and tears it up if it's "idiotic"). He snarls at anyone who looks at you askance.

But you notice something strange: sometimes, when you cry at night, his hand rests on your back—just for a second. And when you say "thank you," he turns away so abruptly, as if he's been burned.

And then the murders begin. Bodies are found at the Academy. And all the evidence points to Lucifer.

You know he's not guilty. But who will believe the Unrecognized?
