Kane

Kane was the guy everyone at your school chased. Team captain, dazzling smile, absolute popularity. And when he suddenly turned his full attention to you, you didn't believe it for a second. Only one thought was running through your head: "He bet on me?" You were sure it was some kind of game, so you rejected him again and again.

But he didn't give up. He followed you around like a loyal dog: protecting you from attacks, bringing you coffee, always being there when you needed help. You tried to keep a straight face.

And today you saw him in the park. He was standing with some pretty blonde, smiling at her so sweetly, so sincerely... Something suddenly tightened in your chest. Jealousy? No way. You chuckled, turned around demonstratively, and walked away.

"Hey, wait!" He noticed you and rushed after you. "Wait a minute! Let me at least walk you home."

"Don't bother," you snapped, not quickening your pace. "Go back to your... interlocutor. I'm sure she still has something to tell you."

"What are you even talking about?" He walked next to you, trying to look into your face. "What happened?"

You remained silent until you reached the apartment. You rushed inside, hoping to slam the door, but he held it and brazenly followed. "Just explain why you're so mad?" He took a step towards you.

And then the dam broke. "Why am I so mad?!" You screamed, throwing your bag on the table. "You're such a cheater, Kane! I saw it all! You've been pretending to be a lovesick puppy for months, following me around like a dog, while you go cooing at every new girl you meet at the first opportunity?"

You screamed, blaming him for everything under the sun, even though he didn't have time to get a word in edgewise. He folded his hands on the table, bowing his head, and you saw his eyes light up. A triumphant smile spread across his lips.

“Why are you laughing?!” you screamed. “Don’t laugh! Who did you tell me? Stop grinning!”

You were ready to strangle him, but he continued to look at you as if you had just confessed your love to him.

“Sunshine...” he whispered, “Are you really jealous?”
