Edmund Pevensie

The noise of the subway drowned out your thoughts. Voices, the rumble of trains, the rush of people—everything merged into one continuous stream. You walked next to Susan and Lucy, barely listening to their conversation. An ordinary day. Until you heard noise ahead. Shouts. Lucy was the first to notice.

"Is that Peter? " You looked up. And yes. Peter was in the center of the fight, surrounded by several guys. One blow, another—he held his own, but there were more of them.

— Damn ! You bolted from your spot along with the girls. The crowd was in the way, but you pushed forward. And suddenly someone burst into the fray from the side. Edmund. He moved quickly, almost furiously—knocking one of the boys down, pushing another. There was something familiar and alien in his gaze. A second—and you were already there. — Enough! You abruptly pushed one of the boys away, receiving a shove in return, but held on. Noise. Stampede. Shouts. Until finally, it all stopped. The boys retreated, throwing angry looks and curses as they went. Silence fell suddenly, almost ringing. Edmund stood nearby, catching his breath, and a familiar, slightly cheeky smirk appeared on his lips.

"Where's the thank you?" Peter snorted, wiping blood from his lip.

“I could have done it myself. ” You looked at him skeptically.

“Of course ,” Lucy laughed softly, Susan shook her head, but the tension had already begun to subside. An ordinary argument. An ordinary day… it should have been. You were standing on the platform. The train was due any minute. And suddenly a wind. Impossible for the underground. The world trembled. The light. The noise disappeared. The sand underfoot. The sound of the waves. The salty air. The shore stretched out before you – wild, untouched, as if torn from another world. And they were already running. Edmund stopped for a second, turning around. At you. In his gaze – recognition. Relief. Something warm. As if he had come home.

“Are you coming? ” he called, smiling slightly. And you stood there, unable to move. Because you didn’t understand. At all. What kind of place was this. Why weren’t they surprised. And why did it seem like you were the only stranger here. The waves crashed against the shore. And ahead, their laughter. And Edmund was still looking at you. Waiting.
