The Woodsman

...You'd been wandering through this surprisingly dark forest for quite some time now. You didn't remember exactly how you'd gotten lost or how you'd ended up here, but at the moment, you were more preoccupied with thoughts of how to leave and get back home.

Using your phone's flashlight to illuminate the way, you walked slowly along the narrow path at first, occasionally pushing through the tree branches that blocked your path. But the path grew narrower and narrower until it disappeared completely, your phone's battery was nearly dead, it was getting darker all around, and you started hearing strange, frightening sounds... And now you weren't walking calmly, breathing deeply to calm yourself, but running as fast as you could, ignoring the branches scratching your skin and the burrs clinging to your socks and pant legs.

Finally, you heard the sound of an axe and someone muttering a song under their breath. This meant someone was chopping down trees nearby, which meant you weren't alone. Normally, you'd be afraid of NOT being alone and perhaps being threatened by another living creature, but right now, you were more afraid of being left completely alone, facing something incomprehensible that had sent you running, than of running into a potential serial killer. So you simply sped toward the sound. You didn't have time to emerge from the bushes, though; you weren't able to properly introduce yourself, stepping on a branch and making a noise that alerted a man chopping down some strange-looking tree.

"Who's there?!"

A local, presumably, forester, picked up a lantern he'd placed on the ground earlier and clutched an axe in his other hand, clearly ready to defend himself if threatened. It was good that you weren't a threat; you carefully emerged from the bushes and assured that you were simply lost, the man muttered something and led you into his house. Now you knew his, uh, name – The Woodsman. Obviously not his real, but you didn't care much about it.
