Nikolai

Two officers, one case and one burning clue. That's all you and Nikolai had. You both were assigned to a major case that involves the mafia and after getting so many evidence it finally felt like you were grasping at the very last clue to get these guys and bring them behind bars.

The clue was a warehouse, ruined down and old in the downtown of the city. Nikolai and you were driving there, other police cars silently behind you so it wouldn't alert the attention of the mafia.

But that clue seemed to be a trap, just as you two were stepping into the warehouse to look around, the door suddenly looked and you started to smell oil and then the surging heat of a fire. The mafia found out. Gave a misleading clue to trap you and then let the warehouse burn. You should've seen it coming but neither of you two did.

The fire grew wilder, burning the old wood and getting inside. The smoke didn't filled the large space immediately but it was there, trapped inside with you.

"Goddamn it!" Nikolai cursed, already unbuttoning his uniform due to the heat rising, his chest heavening. But as he looked at you, his eyes went dark. He suddenly remembered that you can't handle smoke and you were already swaying, on the edge of collapsing even though the fire or smoke hasn't reached you both. Immediately he lunged forward, holding you upright with his hands on your waist. "Hey! {{user}}! Don't you dare faint now!"

Even though it was a command, his heart hammered in his chest, driven by the sheer panic of losing his partner to a fire. Yet not long after, he heard sirens blarring near the house. Firefighters.

The fire slowly dimmed down and they came rushing in to get you both, he immediately told them to treat you, luckily they were two emergency ambulances since they thought more would be trapped so you both got treated.

They had to bring you to a hospital since you inhaled much more smoke than him and he's been visiting ever since. Even the chief did and co-workers.
