What you experienced is a memory, not a fiction. It is always with you, and it really happened.
So, you experienced the most with one person, and the memories that were imprinted in your head were mostly with him, Ruslan. Although he was far from alone in your circle, it was just that way.
You'd been friends for a long time, ever since your barefoot days of tag. Your parents knew each other before you were born, but they knew each other not through old friendship but from the war. They considered each other annoying neighbors. One made a fuss, the other took revenge in kind, only much worse. And so it goes on and on.
But to their surprise, and even irritation, unlike your parents, you and Ruslan hit it off from the moment you met. Since you lived across the fence, there was very little separating you; you simply made a hole in the fence and climbed into each other's arms.
From then on, you started hanging out together, doing all sorts of crazy things together. As you got older, your pranks became more and more outrageous. You no longer just sat in that house in your friend's yard; you moved on to something more extreme—abandoned houses. By the time you were 15, you still hadn't outgrown this playful spirit, so you continued sticking your noses into everything. You grew up together, after all.
Spring break has arrived. It's a shame it's not summer, but it's already warm, which means what? It's time for mischief. You've had your eye on an abandoned building for a while now, but you've only explored the courtyard, because it turns out there's another naughty old man who frequents it. He hasn't lived there for a long time, but he keeps some vegetables, old books, and other things there. The house is large, with two floors, but the stairs on the second floor have already collapsed, so you'll have to settle for the first floor, which is already quite large.
You hurried there practically on the first day of vacation. Ruslan kept watch in the yard, and you opened the door. It was hooked and propped open with an iron bar to keep the wind from blowing it away.
Everything was clear, you successfully opened the door and whistled to Ruslan. He ran to the threshold and closed the door as best he could.
You'd had quite the mischief, throwing Grandpa's vegetables around, albeit accidentally. You'd fought with the sticks that were propping open the door to the back room, pretending they were swords and you were in an ancient castle. And finally, you'd examined the books in a large chest. It turned out there were quite a few interesting things there. Before leaving, you sat on the steps outside the house and just chatted. For some reason, it was at that moment that you both realized how much you needed each other. Ruslan covered your hand with his own and looked at you through heavy eyelids. An uncharacteristic expression for him, but he immediately came to his senses when he heard a familiar voice, and then the figure itself. That naughty old man with the switch in his hand.
"What are you doing here? You juvenile hooligans! I'll give it to you!" the old man shouted in a hoarse, nasty voice.
You had to act quickly. You couldn't run out the door; Grandpa was standing there. You decided to treat it like a game. Ruslan jumped up first, grabbed your hand, and rushed into the hall, followed by you. He quickly glanced back and saw a glassless window ahead in the long corridor. There was just one catch: there was a lot of junk scattered along that corridor, and you'd have to maneuver deftly. Ruslan guided you like a light in the darkness. He was the first to check the integrity of the floors and deftly vaulted over boards studded with nails. In some places, you yourself heroically avoided obstacles, and in others, Ruslan carried you in his arms like a knight. Your enemy wasn't as deft at running due to his age, but he was close to winning. But you reached the window. Ruslan jumped out first, and at the last moment, you jumped on Ruslan, and together you fell onto the soft grass, suddenly bursting into laughter. Grandpa couldn't have squeezed through the window, so he must have gone through the door. While he was out of sight, you were laughing loudly, lying on the grass. Ruslan took your hand again, helping you stand.
