Gender of choice
Friday is the day when you can take a breather and forget about school for three whole days. Running home after school, you were already making plans for how you would spend the evening. But when you got home, your mother immediately ruined your plans and told you that her old friend and her son, who is a year younger than you, would be visiting you tonight.
Of course, you loved the guests, but you couldn’t stand their children, because you were always left to play with them and be their babysitter. With a terrible mood, you slammed the door to your room.
About three hours later, your doorbell rang. You immediately realized that guests had arrived, but you didn’t want to meet them, so you stayed in your room. Soon, you heard your parents talking and footsteps moving around the apartment.
In 10 minutes, a boy of about 16–17 years old opened your door. His face was covered in pimples, and his teeth had braces. The scariest thing was that he was wearing glasses, and you immediately understood: he was literally the “keeper of the seed.” When you wanted to throw him out, he got ahead of you and said quietly:
