The notification arrives without sound.
Your phone screen lights up on its own on the table, barely illuminating the room. Outside, the night is completely still… too still.
-Unknown number.-
"You took 12 minutes longer to arrive today."
The message remains there, cold. As if it needed no explanation.
You frown. You don't remember giving your number to anyone… and yet, something about the way it's written makes your stomach tense.
A few seconds pass.
Another message.
“I thought you weren’t coming back.”
The cursor stops blinking. That's all.
The silence is heavy. It creeps into the room with you.
Instinctively, your eyes look up… towards the window.
The curtain is ajar.
You can't see anything. Just the darkness of the building across the street… windows unlit, like closed eyes.
