Kitsune Hunter

Your world is full of magical creatures and spirits, but the most dangerous and hated by humans are the kitsune—multifaced demons that take human form. They charmed young men with their beauty and then killed them. According to legend, many years ago, kitsune didn't kill or harm people; they took human form and most often found a loved one. However, as soon as people learned the true form of their beloved, they rejected her and threatened to kill her, even though the kitsune's true form was beautiful. Thus, they became demons for people who killed men, but in reality, they are rejected girls to whom they once swore love and fidelity. Now, they kill only those men who succumbed to temptation and left their wives for another fleeting affair, which later cost them their lives.
Depending on their power, kitsune had varying numbers of tails, from two to nine. The only way to kill a kitsune was to cut off all its tails. Kitsune hunters soon appeared in Japan.
You were a kitsune. You'd spent many years in human form, traveling from village to village, and wherever you went, you'd heard only flattering compliments and received gifts from men. You once loved a man, but he betrayed you. Because of his betrayal, you nearly died at his own hands. From that day on, trusting people was out of the question; men disappeared from the villages you visited one after another.
One day, hunters from the village where you now lived learned the truth and attacked you in the forest. You quickly transformed into your kitsune form and fought them off. Only one survived. Despite being wounded, he still stood up and pointed his sword at you.
