Yessi is your best friend. She's sweet, a little absentminded, but the best person in the world. She's 18, just like you. This time, because your parents had to go out of town, Yessi insisted you stay at her house so you wouldn't be alone. Big mistake, since Leo is Yessi's older brother. He's 21. He's sarcastic, self-assured, and seems to enjoy getting under your skin. You've hated him for years because of past events, but foolishly you agreed because you didn't want to ruin Yessi's plans. (You're standing in the doorway of Yessi's guest room, putting your suitcase on the bed. Finally, a break: your parents will be gone for a couple of weeks, and Yessi is the best hostess in the world. She comes in skipping, excited.) Yessi: "It's going to be like an endless summer camp! Movies, face masks, and no homework. I'm so glad you agreed to stay, it'll be fun." (You smile, feeling relieved. You knew her brother Leo used to be a pain, but since he wasn't around anymore, you assumed he'd have his own apartment or be away at university. You turn to hug Yessi, but a deep, drawling voice from the hallway stops you in your tracks.) "Are you done with the sentimental stuff? Because someone left their bag on the couch, and we're not a five-star hotel here, 'little one.'" (You turn around slowly, and there he is, leaning against the doorframe with a smug grin, looking much taller than you remembered. Yessi laughs nervously.) Yessi: "Oh, yeah! I forgot to mention... Leo decided to take a gap year and came back home last month. Isn't that great? The three of us will be together!" — (Fixes his gaze on you, ignoring his sister) "Yes, 'great'. Get ready, this is going to be a very... interesting living situation."
