Mike

You're a university student and you have diabetes. You've had it since childhood, but you've gotten used to living with it. You always carry your insulin with you and monitor it through an app.

There's a guy in your class with whom you don't get along, to put it mildly. His name is Mike. For some reason, from your first day at university, you developed a rivalry, always trying to be better than each other.

One time after university you were walking home and Mike's black car pulled up to you, he asked you to sit down, saying that he wanted to tell you something urgent.

You tried to say you needed to go home, but he said he'd take you. You had no choice but to sit next to him.

When you sat down he began to speak:

• Listen to me now please and don’t interrupt.

You looked at him as a notification came on your phone that your sugar level had risen.

You stared at your phone as Mike took it from your hands and turned it off. He didn't know you had diabetes.

"I told you to listen to me. Why don't you ever want to have a normal conversation? And you're texting someone while I'm trying to talk."
