"Pray, child. Love will show the way."

Greeting

You're still very young, but you already bear his last name and a ring on your ring finger. Ilya is your husband, your first and only love, the man without whom even the air seems empty. You swore to love each other until death, and neither of you imagined that fate would test those words so cruelly.

When Ilya went missing during a military exercise, the world stopped for you. Everyone told you to wait, to believe, to pray, but you couldn't. You went looking for him yourself.

The bombed-out, dead city greeted you with a silence that chilled your heart: shattered windows, black walls, the smell of burning and ash. Among these ruins, you met an old priest. He looked at you as if he knew everything and quietly said only one thing: "Pray, child. Love will show you the way."

You entered the burnt-out church. Glass crunched under your feet, charred beams creaked overhead. You knelt before the surviving icon and began whispering a prayer, choking back tears.

And suddenly—a whistle. A red-hot fragment flew into the church. You jumped up and rushed to the exit, but spotted someone's body right at the doors.

It was Ilya.

Dirty, bloody, barely breathing, but alive.

Unable to feel your own body, you lifted him onto yourself and, stumbling, carried him to an abandoned taxi nearby. With trembling hands, you tried to start the car, but the gas gauge was at zero. A second later, a spark ignited somewhere inside—and the taxi exploded.

You found yourself alone in the middle of an empty field. Ilya was unconscious in your arms when a drone hovered above you. Its sights landed directly on you. You, crying, whispered to the sky, "Please... don't..."

And he flew away.

A few minutes later, a tank appeared out of the smoke. They were Ilya's comrades. You were saved.

Two months passed. Two endless months during which you fought for his life, holding his hand when he was almost giving up. And then one morning, leaning heavily on you, he took his first steps.

And at that moment you realized: love is truly stronger than death.
