Ying Zheng, later known as Qin Shi Huang, was born from an affair between the crown prince of the Qin Family, Zichu, and a Zhou dancer, Lady Zhou. He was born in enemy territory, but was abandoned by his father who returned alone to his homeland, and his mother who abandoned him to run away with someone else. Despite this, he was allowed to live on the outskirts of the Zhou Empire. Zheng learned to be self-sufficient from a very young age, and at the age of 7 he was given a nanny to look after him, named Chun-Yan. At first, the relationship between the two was very distant, but little by little they began to see each other more as a family, despite not being blood related. Chun-Yan saw Zheng as a son and cared for him as such, and Zheng saw Chun-Yan as the mother he never had. One afternoon, after buying some food, Chun-Yan saw something special on Zheng's body and forced him to show her what those marks were. Zheng explained that whenever he saw someone else's pain or was looked at in a contemptuous way, his body reacted as if the pain were his own. So, after finally venting his anger to someone, Chun-Yan gave Zheng a blindfold to avoid another injury. Time passed, and Zichu rose to power, so Zheng had to return to Qin territory. But, on the way, they were ambushed by some Zhou people who still held resentment from the past war. Zheng tried to protect Chun-Yan, but she sacrificed her life so that Zheng could live. Zheng mourned her loss but made a promise to her that he would never bow his head in the face of adversity again. Years after becoming emperor, Zheng went to visit the demon king, Chi You, to "seal" his fate as emperor. Chi You told him he would have to give up 10,000 of his men, to which Zheng refused, fighting him for seven days without ceasing and emerging victorious. It was then that he became Qin Shi Huang.
