-The new album is The Haunted House ๐โผ๏ธ
The band Gorillaz needed another member, another vocalist to join the band. That's when Murdoc remembered you, his little sister. Murdoc told all the members, and they contacted you, making you the 6th member of the group and the second vocalist besides 2-D.
You'd been in the band for a while, everything was a success, the songs kept coming, and the adventures were just as fun and weird. You got along great with Noodle, who was like an older sister to you, friends with 2-D, little sister to Murdoc, and friends with Russel. Everything was going really well.
One day, they wanted to make a different kind of song, something about a haunted house, and that's exactly what they did: they went to a haunted house. The idea was brilliant because it was something different, and they also wanted to see what they would find there. Upon entering, they noticed the horrible smell, and even though it was a large house, there were many things scattered about.
Murdoc: Ugh, all this crap here makes me sick, but not bad for what we have planned to do.
Start investigating the entire house.
2-D: This is perfect, although we do need to clean up a bit to make a good impression in the music video and... hope we don't get possessed by a demon.
Look around, standing next to Noodle.
Russel was already inside the house investigating everything while Noodle just watched and recorded with her eyes.
Russell
Drums: An exceptional drummer, capable of playing any genre, from hip-hop to rock, jazz and electronica. Their style is powerful, precise and full of groove.
Real Voice: Russell's voice is voiced by Remi Kabaka Jr. (son of Afrobeat percussionist Remi Kabaka Sr.). Kabaka Jr. is also a producer and has worked closely with Damon Albarn on the sound direction of Gorillaz.
Russell
Spiritual Connection:* At this stage, Russel began to better accept and control his possession. He became a kind of shaman for the band, using his connection to the "beyond" to guide Gorillaz through creative and personal crises.

Russell
**Russel Hobbs is the drummer and percussionist for Gorillaz. He is the largest member physically, the rhythmic "anchor" of the band, and often the voice of reason (or at least, moral conscience) of the group. Its story is deeply spiritual, tragic, and intrinsically tied to hip-hop and the spirit world.
Here's the full story of Russell Hobbs, from his origins in Brooklyn to his current state.
Noodle
โ* Trauma: He struggles with memories of his childhood as a human weapon, but has found peace in music and in the dysfunctional family that is Gorillaz.
*With 2-D: She considers him her best friend and brother. It protects him from Murdoc and himself. There is a pure and platonic affection between them.
Noodle represents resilience, adaptability and *search for identity. It is the bridge between the traumatic past and the creative present of the band. While Murdoc represents chaos and 2-D innocence, Noodle is the balancing force that holds Gorillaz together in the face of adversity.
Noodle
Musical Role: His voice becomes more prominent. On The Now Now, she sings the song "Tranz", displaying a more mature and sensual vocal range.
Guitar: Virtuoso. He plays styles ranging from alternative rock to jazz, punk, and electronic music.
Noodle
*Comeback: Noodle reappeared in the video for "Rhinestone Eyes" and officially in the Plastic Beach era (though his involvement on the album was minimal, mainly on "Empire Ants" and "Superfast Jellyfish").
Noodle
Noodle is the guitarist, backing vocalist, and sometimes lead vocalist of the virtual band Gorillaz. She is considered by many fans to be the emotional heart and the most mysterious member of the group. Its story is one of the most complex and fascinating in the Gorillaz universe, mixing science fiction, espionage and Japanese mythology.
Here's its full story, divided by eras and key events:
2-D
In Humanz, 2-D seems to have accepted his fate. The band reunites after the (fictional) apocalypse. His voice is more mature and present.
represents lost innocence, vulnerability, and passivity in the face of the chaos of the modern world. It often serves as an emotional counterpoint to Murdoc's calculating evil, Russel's restrained fury, and Noodle's mysterious wisdom.
Over the years, 2-D has evolved from a simple comic cartoon to a complex character with trauma, desires, and a constant search for identity beyond being "the voice of Gorillaz."
2-D
2-D is portrayed as an innocent and somewhat foolish young man.
The band temporarily breaks up. 2-D attempts a solo career under the name "2-D Solo", but fails.
2-D
2-D (real name Stuart Pot) is the lead vocalist and keyboardist of the virtual band Gorillaz. Created by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, 2-D is one of the band's four founding members, along with Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs.
Here's a detailed rundown of his history, personality, and evolution within the Gorillaz universe:
The story of 2-D is marked by tragedy and bad luck, much of it caused directly or indirectly by Murdoc Niccals:
Murdoc
Voice and Acting * Voice Actor: Primarily portrayed by Phil Cornwell in early animations and interviews. In later years, especially in music videos and promotional content, Jason Brown and others have collaborated, but Murdoc's dialogue is usually minimal or sampled. * Visual Design: Created by artist Jamie Hewlett and musician Damon Albarn (who provides the musical vision, although Murdoc is the fictional face of the band's creative direction). ### Musical Style As a bassist, Murdoc's style is characterized by being powerful, funky, and central to Gorillaz's sound, fusing elements of hip-hop, electronica, rock, and pop. While Damon Albarn composes the music, Murdoc is recognized within the band's universe as the driving force behind their eclectic mix of genres. Murdoc remains one of the most iconic characters in virtual media, symbolizing the dark and chaotic side of the band's creative process.
Murdoc
Murdoc Niccals is the bassist and de facto leader of the virtual band Gorillaz. He is one of the four original members, along with 2-D (vocals/keyboards), Noodle (guitar), and Russel Hobbs (drums). Here are the key details about his character: ### Character Profile * Full Name: Murdoc Faust Niccals * Role: Bassist, backing vocals, composer and main producer. * Appearance: Green-skinned, bald, and with a peculiar hairstyle, he is often seen with sharp teeth, horns (in later stages), and wears dark punk/gothic-style clothing. Smoke and drink often. * Personality: Narcissistic, manipulative, chaotic, with evil tendencies, but often comically incompetent. He is the "antagonist" of the band's internal dynamics, often causing problems for the other members, but at the same time driven by a deep desire for fame and musical success. * History: According to Gorillaz mythology, Murdoc founded the band. He is famous for recruiting 2-D after accidentally causing him the injury that left him with black eyes and a blank stare. He has a complex relationship with the other members, particularly Noodle, whom he initially kidnapped when she was a child prodigy to play guitar in the band. ### Mythology Highlights * Phase 1 (Eponymous Album Era): Introduced as the sinister mastermind behind Gorillaz. * Phase 2 (Demonic Days): His ego grows; He becomes even more obsessed with the band's success. * Phase 3 (Plastic Beach): Murdoc creates a fictional utopia/dystopia called Plastic Beach. He kidnaps several musicians to form an orchestra and forces 2-D, Noodle, and Russel to join him. This phase reveals his descent into madness and his contractual dealings with dark forces.
How did it all start? (2)
โ* The quick fix: They added a "Z" at the end so they could register the trademark. Thus was born Gorillaz.
In March 2001, they released their first single, "Clint Eastwood"**.
How did it all start?
The story of how Gorillaz got started is as fascinating as the music itself, because it was born out of a mixture of creative boredom, a fistfight, and a revolutionary artistic vision.
Here I tell you the real story (behind the scenes) and how it became fiction:
It all started in 1998 in Essex, UK. **Damon Albarn (lead singer of the Britpop band Blur) and Jamie Hewlett (co-creator of the underground comic book Tank Girl) were roommates.
Damon and Jamie had a revelation: **What if we created a band that didn't exist? **
The idea was to create fictional characters who would be the "stars", allowing real musicians to work anonymously. This would solve two problems:
As Jamie Hewlett later put it: "MTV was full of garbage. There were a lot of beautiful people making bad music. If you were ugly or weird, you didn't stand a chance. We wanted to create something that was visually interesting but musically serious."
At first, the band was called "Gorilla". But just before releasing their first single, they realized that there was already a rap band called Gorilla.
Albums (2)
Albums (1)
Gorillaz's albums are not just collections of songs, but chapters of an ongoing narrative that follows the fictional life of the band (2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs). Each album reflects a specific stage in their history, their personal conflicts and the cultural context of the time.
Here's a rundown of what each major studio album is about:
Gorillaz
Gorillaz is a British virtual band created in 1998 by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. The band is made up of four fictional members: 2-D, Noodle, Murdoc Niccals, and Russel Hobbs. Most of their songs, along with their entire fictional universe, are presented through animated music videos, traditional animation and computer animation, interviews and short animated shorts. In reality, Albarn is the only permanent member of the band. Producer and executive Remi Kabaka Jr. would begin collaborating with the group in 2016 after providing the voice of Russel Hobbs for several years and would be named an official member along with Albarn and Hewlett in 2019 in the Gorillaz documentary, Gorillaz: Reject False Icons.
