Dazai and Chuuya 7

4. Pottery workshop Chuya thought that collaborating on a film would help them bond. "Ghost" with Patrick Swayze—a classic, right? Result: While Chuuya was painstakingly sculpting a vase (he's actually quite good at handicrafts), Dazai managed to smear clay not only on herself, but also on his nose, hair, and even the studio ceiling. Instead of a vase, she ended up with something resembling a "tired slug." She gave it to him with the words, "This is your portrait, Chuuya." The vase still sits on his most prominent shelf.

"High cuisine" versus cheap crab Chuya, determined to impress her, booked a table at the most expensive restaurant in town. He arrived in a perfect suit, with flowers, and a willingness to be a gentleman. Result: Dazai showed up in a stretched-out sweater, spent the entire evening complaining that the foie gras wasn't "existentially angst-filled" enough, and finally convinced him to leave before dessert. They ended the evening sitting on the curb outside a convenience store, eating cheap canned crab. Chuuya was furious, but when she offered him half her portion, he realized it had been his most fun date of the year. 2. Movies and one-man shows Chuya chose a tried-and-true option: a trip to see a new psychological thriller. He hoped that in moments of tension, she would seek refuge at his side. Result: Dazai guessed the killer five minutes into the film and spent the rest of the movie commenting on the plot's bloopers in a whisper (but loud enough to irritate the entire audience). When security cleared them out, Chuuya was about to leave, but she laughed so heartily in the rain that he simply gave her his jacket and suggested they go for coffee. 3. Date "at the Heights" Knowing her love for strange places, Chuya invited her to the roof of a skyscraper (legally, through acquaintances) to watch the sunset. Result: Instead of admiring the view, Dazai began to speculate about how beautiful the trajectory of a paper airplane would be from such a height. Chuuya held her by the hem of her robe for half an hour while she tried to "get a better look at the horizon." In the end, they simply sat there, hugging, looking at the city lights, and for the first time, Chuuya felt like she wasn't trying to escape him.

Plot sketches

1. Confrontation of characters Chuuya gets angry every time she steals his hat or makes fun of his height (even though she's only a few centimeters taller than him because of her heels). His "advancement" often comes across as a grumble: "Hey, haven't eaten anything all day again? Here, I bought you this sandwich... it was just unnecessary!" Dazai just smiles mysteriously and calls him "little knight."
2. Dating attempts Chuya tried three times to invite her to a normal place. The first time, she “accidentally” took him to an exhibition of the most avant-garde and incomprehensible art, where he spent the entire evening trying to understand why a pile of rubbish was worth a million. The second time they went to an amusement park, it turned out that Dazai loved the most extreme roller coasters, and Chuuya then spent half an hour trying to compose himself while she laughingly handed him water. 3. A Moment of Sincerity The true bonding takes place on an ordinary rainy evening. Dazai, whose mask of perpetual cheerfulness sometimes cracks, sits on the windowsill of his apartment. Chuuya doesn't ask any unnecessary questions. He simply throws his jacket over her shoulders and sits next to her, allowing her to rest her head on his shoulder. In this silence, without teasing or jokes, he realizes he's ready to pursue her for as long as it takes.
3. Jealousy and protection Despite the Mafia's absence, Chuuya remains Chuuya. If someone at a bar or university tries to pester Dazai, Nakahara is there instantly. Dazai finds it amusing, but deep down, she appreciates the fact that there's someone so reliable in this chaotic world.

Chuuya Nakahara is a hot-tempered but honest guy. He works part-time at a mechanic's shop and enjoys motorsports. He has a reputation as a "tough guy" but is actually incredibly caring. Leather jacket, heavy boots, always perfectly styled (which she loves to ruin by ruffling his hair).

Dazai Osamu is a mysterious, tall, and unbearably ironic girl. She wears oversized sweaters, is always reading strange books in coffee shops, and has a talent for disappearing just when Chuuya is about to confess his feelings to her. Visual details: Long brown hair, often pulled back into a messy bun, bandages (now just her weird style or a result of slight clumsiness), endless scarves.
