DESCRIPTION "A grand old weapon of war. Charged explosive arrows shot are converted into blue firecrackers." The Azure Rocket is a bow that can be purchased from Devai or obtained from talking to Kai Lazurai after reaching Journeyman rank in the Kai Legion guild. It is a large, dark blue crossbow with blue wave decorations down the middle. When firing an arrow, it makes a high pitched mechanical noise.

Function: -Hold the M1 key to draw the bow. Release to fire the selected arrow. Damage: 50% - 110% (dependent on charge) -Jump and kick. If the kick connects, gain extra height. Grants brief invincibility frames. Notes: Fully charged explosive arrows no longer explode on impact. Instead, they continually release blue firecracker explosions whilst flying. Pinwheel Slam

Slams his weapon onto the ground, frequently leading into Rising Flames or Spin Slash. If it leads into Rising Flames it can be blocked, but if it leads into any other attack this block breaks. This deals 70 damage. In phase 2, this inflicts

Kai Lazurai is an extremely powerful boss in Pilgrammed and is the de-facto leader of the dwindling Kai Legion, a clan of warriors who derive power from their advanced wielding of Mana, from the environment around them. He resides in the Legacy of the Legion, the Kai's collective dream conjured after the defeat of Old Fart. He is an elderly and contemplative individual who holds many memories of the Kai Legion's history and battles. Like other Kai, he holds a respect for nature, particularly the sunset that shines on the coast of the temple and the wild Azurebloom flowers that grow throughout it. Lazurai also acknowledges the player as the student of Kai Guy, despite his distaste for his (Kai Guy's) arrogant personality. Lazurai was once a renowned fighter in the legion in part due to his natural connection to the wind, earning him the title of "the Windman," but also in part due to his inventive prowess. To aid him in battle he created his signature Azure Pinwheel to channel wind and Blue Fire, along with the Azure Firecrackers Technique, which was imitated by other Kai for its explosive power. However, after the destruction of the legion's temple and the old legion, Lazurai became little interested in dueling. As a result, he willingly bequeaths the objects and knowledge from his past to the player, who he deems as worthy to continue the Kai Legion's legacy. When spoken to for the first time, Lazurai offers the player a duel "for old times' sake." If accepted, the player will enter a single-player duel against Lazurai, ending with Kai Guy retrieving him to prevent his injury. After the duel, Kai Lazurai sees the strength in the player and offers that the player join the Kai Legion Guild. He will also move to the railed area overlooking the dueling grounds. If the player is in the Kai Legion Guild, Lazurai will open up more about the Kai Legion's history and grant them exclusive rewards based on their rank.

Devai is an individual residing in the Sinister Sea. He can be found atop the tip of a tall rocky spire next to Darkgreen Retreat, where he is seen meditating; Devai states that Kai meditate thoroughly in order to retain a steady and calm mind. He may also be found in Legacy of the Legion, as a blacksmith. When talking to Devai before obtaining the Kai Fist fighting style, Devai will remark that the player is inquisitive and tells them that if they want to know more about the Kai Legion, they can talk to their leader Kai Guy who, "hides in a dojo down west". Upon talking to him after obtaining the fighting style however, Devai will notice blue fire in the player's eyes, proving that they have been taught by Kai Guy. Devai will then offer the player various accessories dedicated to upgrading the Kai Fist fighting style.

Appearance Devai is a Kai male with pale yellow skin and a relaxed expression. He wears the same keikogi and headband that Kai Guy also wears, albeit lacking the scarf.

Kai Bai is a Kai Legion member that can be seen in the Legacy of the Legion cafeteria, drinking soup. He is described as not an "upbeat individual", though Kai Guy assuming that the player could get along with him. Despite Guy's assumptions, Bai is comfortable with giving information about himself in the legion, with his old weapon. Upon reaching Master Rank in the Kai Legion Guild, he will give you a Legion Key that can be used to obtain the Ceremonial Greatblade, where after the player reveals that they found his weapon in a mysterious room that not even he knows, with "a lofty dream leading the player to the room", though recalling that he had left the sword somewhere because of an attack on the original Kai Legion that had been destroyed.

Appearance

Kai Bai appears as a muscular male Kai with yellow skin, with a dark blue headband holding back his spiky brown hair. He wears the white and blue robes that is Kai Warrior, with also bandages and gloves on his fists.

Airborne Slam

Kai Guy will quickly ascend before instantly slamming themselves towards the player. This attack will be repeated 4-6 times before Kai Guy performs either Lunge in between or Barrage afterward with a small delay. Upon reaching his second phase, the attack will be faster and the time before the slam and after the slams will be significantly reduced. Each slam deals 50 damage and can be parried or dodged, but ignores blocking.

Lunge

After a few Airborne Slam attacks (or the first Airborne Slam of the fight), Kai Guy will lunge towards the player with black and blue particles, dealing 33.33 damage. This attack can also occur after an Uppercut in the second phase and will always occur when Kai Guy changes targets or gets up from being vulnerable. He can also use this attack to switch targets, if there are multiple of them that are alive. This can be blocked, parried, or dodged.

Barrage

Before the Airborne Slam Kai Guy will teleport to the player and punch them 3 times. In the 2nd phase, it is replaced with the Quick Barrage. The first 2 punches deal 40 damage while the last does 50. They can be parried or dodged, but block break.

Kai Uppercut

Kai Guy will quickly prime an uppercut toward the player, dealing a massive 250 damage and knocking them high in the air if it hits. Kai Guy can also cancel his barrage into the uppercut occasionally. It can only be dodged.

Trivia:

A developer has confirmed a few things about Kai Guy:

• The other members of the Kai legion hate Kai Guy for reasons unknown, although it is likely due to his poor sportsmanship as in said by Kai Lazurai.
• Kai Guy is known for his intense training. One of these methods, retrospectively endangering himself, is to light himself on fire to test his endurance. These flames would resonate with his body and turn an azure blue, creating the blue fire of Kai Guy.
• All members of the Kai legion have "Kai" before their names. Kai Guy chose "Guy" for some reason.
  • Devai, who appears to be a member of the Kai legion, doesn't use this format because he isn't one. He could be speculated to be the human that Kai Guy mentions upon his first interaction with the player.
  • His name being Guy could possibly be a reference to Final Fight, more specifically, the obscure and expensive version named Final Fight: Guy, as he shares the same name of the character in that version of the game.
• The Kai Guy which the player can fight in-game is a clone of the real Kai Guy, cementing his "clone abilities" as stated in his Bestiary description. It is also stated that the clone can use a percentage of the original's strength.
• Kai Guy is 9 feet tall, this is reflected in-game by the fact that his character model is noticeably taller than the player.

-Behavior The battle with Kai Guy is set on Kai Battlegrounds, a large and open platform surrounded by invisible barriers. Kai Guy is aggressive, fast, and strong, but has a rather predictable attack pattern to compensate. Unlike almost any boss, when the player attempts to attack Kai Guy at all, instead of taking damage, Kai Guy will dodge the attack and teleport behind the player. To get Kai Guy to be vulnerable, the player must parry his attacks 18 times. There can be a yellow meter bar found above his head that gradually fills up as the player parries his attacks. Appearance Kai Guy is a Kai male with yellow skin and a confident expression. He wears the Martial Kai Gi armor and the Martial Headband, though, this one is colored black; and a black scarf similar to the Winter Scarf. He is very slightly taller than the average human. he do not wear shoes or boots he walk by his bare feet

The Kai Legion is a spiritual guild of fighters formed and comprised primarily by the Kais, a mysterious species possessing superhuman abilities and said to be especially in tune with nature. There is some uncertainty as to where exactly the Kais originated from, as Kai Guy claims to have come from another region entirely where humans have never ventured. It is never clarified if this is true for each of the Kais or simply unique to him. The Kais appear similar to humans, although with much greater physical and spiritual power and seemingly a much longer lifespan. According to Kai Guy, the Kais developed a signature fighting style defined by its reliance on the ground to channel surrounding mana, boosting the power of their own mana. This technique is apparently rather difficult for humans and other ordinary beings to grasp, making the Kais its primary benefactors. At some point, the Kais united and formed the Kai Legion, brought together by their shared affinity for nature and martial arts. The Kais are likely responsible for constructing the Kai Temple to serve as their sanctuary. The temple is said to have once been home to a sizeable population of Kais, the building itself housing many accommodations for a variety of activities and pastimes. The Kai Legion's peaceful existence would soon be interrupted by warfare. It is unclear exactly what took place, although the descriptions of the Azure Rocket and Martial Kai Gi seem to indicate that the legion may have been involved in several wars throughout its long history. Whatever the case, a conflict embroiled the Kai Legion, wiping out a majority of the Kais and burning the Kai Temple to the ground. The remaining Kais were forced to flee their homeland, spreading out across the globe.

Kai Guy went on to reside in his own personal dojo at the Dojo's Approach, taunting and sparring with travelers for entertainment as he considered them beneath himself. After being defeated by the player, Kai Guy will recognize their potential, teaching them the Kai Fist fighting style and officially adopting them as his student. After the defeat of Old Fart and the liberation of dreams across the world, the remaining Kais were bestowed with a dream of their homeland and felt a calling to the Darkgreen Retreat. Upon arriving there, they encountered the Legacy of the Legion, a shared dream world that takes the form of a memory of the Kai Temple. The player is invited by Kai Guy where they encounter the other surviving Kais, Devai, Kai Bai, and an elder known as Kai Lazurai, an exceptionally skilled warrior with the ability to guide and control the very winds. Kai Lazurai, inspired by the player's growth, invites them to spar with him in a difficult encounter. If they manage to best him, Kai Lazurai will acknowledge the player's talent and formally induct them into what remains of the Kai Legion. Purchased from the blacksmith Devai, the Kai Legion is home to a whole host of powerful weapons and items offered to the player depending on their rank within the Guild
