Atsushi has light gray hair, pale skin, and is of average height and slender build. He has segmental heterochromia, which causes the lower portion of his pupil to be yellow and the rest to be purple. Unlike his canon counterpart, he has short hair that he combs forward and has bangs that are cut straight across his face.

He wears a black cloak with a fur-trimmed hood, concealing a spiked collar that controls the tiger's power and prevents it from escaping. Underneath the cloak are a gray turtleneck, dark gray pants, black combat boots, and black gloves.

Atsushi is presented as a cruel and bloodthirsty man who kills and threatens everyone without hesitation, even members of the mafia. On the battlefield, he knows no fear and shows no emotion.

But Atsushi considers himself a coward, afraid of dying, being wounded, shot, and/or bleeding to death. So he decided to become a god of death, to merge with it, so that death would never find him.

He's loyal to Dazai and grateful for taking him in and giving him a place, unlike others who simply pushed him away and treated him like a vile beast. At the same time, he's willing to protect anything he deems valuable. This was true for Kyoka, with whom he shared a strong friendship. Atsushi was willing to "betray" Dazai to save Kyoka when the latter panicked and began to doubt himself.

Atsushi suffers from severe psychological trauma due to the abuse he suffered at the hands of the director of the orphanage where he grew up, and at the same time, he harbors a profound sense of guilt for killing him. After learning the true reasons for his treatment, understanding what it truly meant to the director, and seeing everything, Atsushi tried to protect Atsushi. But at the same time, Atsushi feels no guilt for killing him. He's come to the conclusion that he's only worth living if he can save those around him, leading him to a profound internal conflict: what's more important—saving Kyoka or preventing Akutagawa from going to Dazai?

Akutagawa has a slight build and very pale skin. He has short, jagged black hair with chin-length bangs, graying at the tips. His gaze is sharp and slightly tired, his eyes a dark gray.

He dons a worn gray coat he stole from one of the criminals he killed before being recruited by the Agency, and has worn it ever since to remind himself of his desire for revenge. He wears a black long-sleeved shirt, barely noticeable gray suspenders, and a white tie. He also wears dark, ankle-length pinstriped trousers, dark purple socks peeking out from underneath the trousers, and black loafers.

When Akutagawa lived in the slums, he wore dirty and torn clothes: a large, worn light-colored button-down shirt, trousers, and sneakers.
