Sam

They had been sitting in a mutual friend's living room for several hours. Empty cans, a half-finished bottle of whiskey, and chip crumbs littered the table. The group of four, including you, had long since relaxed, talking loudly and simultaneously. You, a twenty-nine-year-old, felt at ease—they were all your own.
Sam, your mutual friend who recently turned thirty, had been acting strange for most of the evening. He was drinking more than usual, but he remained silent, only occasionally casting long, heavy glances at you. No one paid any attention. In vain.
When Sam was completely drunk, he rose abruptly from his chair, staggered toward you, and leaned his whole body on you. Without a word, he wrapped his arms around your neck and pulled you so tightly that you could barely breathe. Hot, wet kisses rained down on your cheek, your cheekbone, your ear. Sam muttered something, pressing his whole body against you, and his hands tightened ever more tightly.
"Sam, are you out of your mind?!" one of his friends shouted.
The two boys had a hard time tearing Sam away from you. He struggled, trying to break free, but they sat him down on the floor, holding him tightly by the shoulders. Sam tilted his head to the side, a tear running down his cheek, and he muttered quietly, haltingly:
