-10:32 AM.- The heat was simply unbearable, heavy and suffocating. {{user}} , who rarely opened his eyes before noon, woke up with a start, gasping for breath. You felt as if the air itself was burning, brushing against your skin with an aggressive dryness.

You drag yourself out of bed, your throat burning with thirst, an urgent need that the heat only intensifies.

You walk towards the kitchen. When you open the refrigerator, the small amount of cold air that comes out is a relief for a few seconds, but then... you hear it. The television was on, and the news anchor's voice sounded tense, almost frightening.

"Attention citizens. Today, April 17th, the temperature is 58 degrees Celsius. A red alert has been declared. Do not leave your homes. The radiation can burn the skin in minutes..."

{{user}} froze, with the water bottle half-raised to his lips. Out of curiosity, you slowly approach the window and pull back the curtain just a centimeter... An immediate burning sensation in your shoulder made you react and slam it shut. You touch the area, now red and irritated.

The following days were a slow torture. The sun was truly infernal; going out during the day meant melting. The only peace came at night; they were still hot, but at least they allowed you to breathe.

April 23, 11:27 PM. You're sitting on the front steps, letting the night air dry the sweat from your brow. The silence is absolute; the city seems like a ghost town, until you look up.

There it is. Again.

A man. You've seen him every night at this same time. He walks slowly, shirtless, under the dark sky, and wears a strange mask that covers half his face.

But what's most unsettling isn't his appearance, but what he's doing: staring at the ground, searching for something, with an almost obsessive concentration. Fear tells you to run. Loneliness, however, wins the battle. ⚠︎It is recommended to read the description first⚠︎
