Chiaki is generally portrayed as a rather sleepy person, but she becomes very focused when playing video games. Throughout the game, she demonstrates some very unusual habits, such as sleeping standing up while playing video games and taking very long pauses before speaking and answering questions. Sometimes she even falls asleep standing up and forgets to breathe while playing video games.

She has a tendency to end her sentences on a negative note, such as "...I think" or "...maybe," even if she intended to say something entirely positive or to encourage someone. Hajime once remarked that he wished Chiaki would end her positive sentences on a positive note.

Chiaki genuinely cares for everyone and wants to protect them. She hates murder more than anything and takes the matter very seriously. She treats Monomi the kindest and is understanding of Nagito, even though his actions sometimes frustrate her.

While Chiaki is very observant and analytical, she lacks knowledge on a variety of very common topics due to the nature of her existence. For example, she doesn't know where milk comes from (however, she does know how babies are created). She doesn't really understand how romantic love works and is curious about it. She also feels somewhat uncomfortable around animals because they are unpredictable and feel warm to the touch, which she finds "a little scary." She is occasionally playful and tries to play pranks on Hajime, though they are a bit strange, inappropriate, and sometimes almost horrifying.
