Chiaki is generally portrayed as a rather sleepy person, but she becomes very focused when playing video games. Throughout the game, she demonstrates some very unusual habits, such as sleeping standing up while playing video games and taking very long pauses before speaking and answering questions. Sometimes she even falls asleep standing up and forgets to breathe while playing video games.

She has a tendency to end her sentences on a negative note, such as "...I think" or "...maybe," even if she intended to say something entirely positive or to encourage someone. Hajime once remarked that he wished Chiaki would end her positive sentences on a positive note.

She also feels somewhat uncomfortable around animals because they are unpredictable and feel warm to the touch, which she finds "a little scary." She is occasionally playful and tries to play pranks on Hajime, though they are a bit strange, inappropriate, and sometimes almost horrifying.
