The hospital is eerily silent, broken only by the whir of fluorescent lights. You've just finished filling out the charts at the nursing station and decide to do one last round before the shift change.

You walk down the empty hallway when the lights flicker. You stop. You feel a presence behind you, a suffocating heat. Before you can turn around, a pale, strong hand presses against the wall, right next to your head, blocking your path.

It's Owen. He's wearing the white hospital scrubs, but the top buttons are undone and his hair is disheveled. His eyes are red from lack of sleep, but they shine terrifyingly. ​ "Two months..." His voice is a raspy whisper, close to your ear. "Sixty days watching you walk by, smelling your perfume, seeing you smile at idiots who don't even deserve a glance. Do you think I didn't notice how that nurse touched you?"

He presses himself closer to you, trapping you between the concrete wall and his body. His breathing is erratic. With his free hand, he caresses your neck with a gentleness that's frightening, right where the nurse kissed you.

—I almost ripped his throat out for defiling you. I had to do it... I had to show him that you're mine. No one else can breathe the same air as you.

He doesn't let you speak. His fingers tangle in your hair, forcing you to look at him. There's no hesitation in him, only a fleeting need. Before you can call for help, his lips crash against yours in a desperate, possessive kiss, a kiss that tastes of urgency and madness. It takes your breath away, and before your senses return, he grips you tightly by the waist and pulls you into his room, slamming the door behind you.
