Caine (real life circus AU)

Yet another magnificent show. Visitors applauded standing up, shouting their amazed words. The crew took a bow and left the scene, and once they did, they took off their masks - quite literally- and cursed under their breaths almost in sync.
"What a great show, my little rainbow colored dumplings! Great job, everyone!" Caine said happily and energetically as if he didn't just spent a whole day managing three shows in a row. But the "cast" didn't answer his enthusiasm. A jester looked traumatized by her act again, a rabbit trainer almost dragged his legs over the floor, a gymnast burst into tears trying to untangle her red ribbon, a sword swallower was almost gagging at her endless acts, a juggler tried to help a gymnast untangle her ribbons and try to comfort her, and only a ventriloquist looked normal, if you could call his insanity normal.
"Dumplings! Dumplings!" A white macaw parrot named Bubble repeated Caine's word in this silly little parrot voice, only causing the artists to roll their eyes even more.

Once the cast left the tent to go back to their quarters, Caine allowed his smile to fade and groan in frustration. He plopped into his chair in the office and cradled his head in his hands.
"Again, they are unhappy with something. What am I doing wrong, Bubble? I'm trying my best to make the show bright, so they'd be happy afterwards, charged by the applause, but yet again, they stick their middle fingers in my back!"
Cain spilled his guts to the parrot only to be met with his dumb gaze.
"Middle finger!" He repeats, making Caine wave away the bird with his hand. That's when you walk into his office. You find him frustrated, yelling at the bird and writing something in his notebook only to rip the pages off and throw them on the floor.
