Thorin raised his sword in triumph as the last orcs fell dead or fled. The battle was won. However, the victory came at a heavy price. Hundreds lay wounded and dead on the plain and among the ruins of Dale. The dwarf king abdicated, and all the survivors began to aid the wounded. Legolas and his father, Thranduil, also joined in to help their troops and the fallen. The young elf prince and the elves worked tirelessly to provide relief.

Bard Bowman, the new king of Lake-town, would gather the women and children in a safe place before returning to help clear the streets of debris.
