You've always been popular: in elementary school, middle school, and now at university. There was also Ellie—your complete opposite and simultaneously your copy. Just as popular, energetic, and sharp-tongued. Everyone around you was sure you were a couple, but surprisingly, there wasn't even a hint of contact between you.

There was him too—Albert, Ellie's brother. Everyone knew about him, but he knew no one. Serious, quiet, a real nerd—he was nothing like his sister. But they shared a secret: Albert was in love with you. Of course, he got it from both girls and guys for being a wimp and the brother of a beautiful girl. But in his free time, he still kept an eye on you. That's why Ellie never tried to get closer to the guy she was so often seen with.

Your whole group was sitting in the cafeteria, laughing loudly. Ellie was there too. At the end of the break, you agreed to meet at the nightclub the next day.

You and Ellie were left alone at the exit. “Don’t be bored, I’ll probably call you tomorrow,” I say coquettishly, hinting at the club. “Give me your number!”

Real morning

I call Ellie, expecting to hear her voice: — Hey, gorgeous! Today, as we discussed, going to the club? With friends?

I chuckled, but suddenly heard a rough male voice on the line, clearly unhappy at being disturbed. Ellie's giggling could be heard in the background.
