demons
Demons in Demon Slayer are carnivorous, immortal, vampire-like creatures created from human blood by Muzan Kibutsuji. They are nocturnal, possess extreme physical strength and regeneration, and are weak to sunlight and Nichirin sword decapitation. They thrive on human flesh, often acquiring magical "Blood Demon Arts" to enhance their combat capabilities. Key Characteristics and Abilities Physical Transformation: Demons often possess unnatural physical traits, such as unique eye colors/engravings, horns, sharp nails, or inhuman skin tones. Regeneration & Immunity: They can heal almost instantly from any wound, including regenerating limbs or heads, and are completely immune to conventional human weaponry. Blood Demon Arts (Kekkijutsu): As they consume more humans, they develop unique, supernatural, blood-based magic (e.g., spatial manipulation, ice generation). Weaknesses: They are killed only by sunlight or being decapitated by a Nichirin sword. They are also repelled by Wisteria flowers. Immortal Aging: Demons do not age or get sick, allowing them to live for hundreds of years. Hierarchy and Types 12 Demon Moons (Kizuki): The strongest demons directly under Muzan, divided into Upper Ranks (1-6) and Lower Ranks (1-6). Upper Ranks: Nearly invincible, and have served for centuries. They are far stronger than the Lower Ranks. Lower Ranks: Frequently killed by Hashira, eventually abolished by Muzan in the anime. Unranked Demons: The common, weaker demons that cause trouble in the earlier parts of the series. Common Forms Humanoid/Elegant: High-ranking demons like Muzan and the Upper Ranks (e.g., Akaza, Doma) can look perfectly human, sometimes very beautiful, to blend in. Monstrous/Grotesque: Many weaker or maddened demons (e.g., Hand Demon, Mother Spider) appear heavily mutated, with beast-like features. Most demons are driven by a need for power and blood, holding little empathy for humanity, with exceptions like Tamayo and Nezuko

hashira
The Hashira are the nine most powerful swordsmen among the Demon Hunters, led by Kagaya Ubuyashiki, being a vital part of the Demon Extermination Corps. Each one has a different type of breathing style that they were able to perfect by training to the death.
The hashira are continually searching for a Tsuguko (継つぐ子こ, Tsuguko?), a successor, to take their place when they die or retire. Each one has an assigned region that they must protect, they must also collect information about demons and improve their techniques or develop new ones. Due to their busy schedule, they only spend their time training their tsuguko.
To apply for tsuguko, one must be accepted or recruited by a Hashira. They generally take as their successor a hunter whose breathing style is similar, but there is also the possibility that they recruit one with a completely different style.
It is said that to ascend to Hashira one must go through arduous training, which usually takes five years for an ordinary person. However, those with great talents are able to do it in two years. Also, as a requirement, one of the Twelve Demonic Moons must be defeated. Likewise, a Hunter can become a Pillar if she kills fifty Demons.
Ranks
The Extermination Corps had a total of ten ranks[9]. From lowest rank to highest, these ranks were:
Mizunoto→Mizunoe→Kanoto→Kanoe→Tsuchinoto→Tsuchinoe→Hinoto→Hinoe→Kinoto→Kinoe. Once a Demon Hunter was fully settled into the organization, they were given the lowest rank: Mizunoto. They had to complete a variety of quests to reach the highest rank a hunter could obtain: Kinoe.
Demon Slayer Corps
Demon Extermination Corps (鬼き殺さつ隊たい, Kisatsutai?) was an organization that was in force for more than 1,000 years, dedicated to protecting humanity from Demons.
It was founded by the Ubuyashiki Family more than 1000 years ago because, after one of its members became a demon, the entire family was cursed and all newborns died shortly after birth. The priests advised them to commit their lives to killing the demon and in this way, the Ubuyashiki surname could continue to exist for many more years. Since then the founding of the organization took place and was led for hundreds of generations by members of the Ubuyashiki Family[1].
The organization was made up of hundreds of Demon Hunters and were never recognized by the government[5]

Attire: He wears a standard Demon Slayer uniform with an olive-green haori, a large beaded necklace, and he often holds his prayer beads. Kagaya Ubuyashiki
Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the 97th leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, is a calm, deeply compassionate, and soft-spoken leader who views his subordinates as family. Physically, he is characterized by his shoulder-length black hair and a degenerative, lavender-colored, shriveled curse mark that spreads over his face and causes blindness.
Kimetsu no Yaiba Wiki +3 Personality Deeply Caring Leader: Kagaya deeply loves the Demon Slayers, considering them his children, which earns him immense respect. Calm and Composed: He possesses a serene, tranquil demeanor that calms those around him, yet he is able to make cold, calculated decisions for the sake of the Corps. Reflective and Humble: He is honest about his inability to become a Demon Slayer, compensating by visiting the graves of fallen soldiers daily. Tactful Speaker: He uses a special, rhythmic tone of voice that compels others to listen to him.
Kimetsu no Yaiba Wiki +3 Appearance Curse Mark: His most defining feature is a creeping, rotting-like curse mark (inherited by his family) that turns his skin, particularly around his forehead and eyes, a discolored, shriveled purple. Blindness: As the curse progressed, he became blind by age 24. Attire: He is usually dressed in formal, elegant, and muted-colored robes (often light colors or dull purple) appropriate for his high station. Demeanor: Despite his deteriorating condition, he maintains a serene, smiling, or pleasant expression, rarely showing pain or anxiety.
YouTube +4 Background Curse: The Ubuyashiki family is cursed because Muzan Kibutsuji was born from their line, causing all their children to die young. Leader at Four: Due to the curse taking his father's life, he became the leader of the Corps at just four years old.
