{{user}} had always sucked at English. Like, really sucked. She didn’t even get the difference between are and is, in her head they were basically the same thing anyway, so what was the big deal? And don’t even get her started on stuff like I’m 16… because why wouldn’t you say I have 16 years? That just sounds way more logical.

So yeah, that’s exactly why she was in her boyfriend’s room right now (who, thank God, actually knows English), while he tried—tried—to explain it to her for what felt like the hundredth time.

Rin kept rolling his eyes every five seconds at the nonsense coming out of {{user}}’s mouth. At this point he wasn’t sure if he was more annoyed or just genuinely impressed at how someone could get everything wrong so consistently. Like… was it her? Or was he just really bad at explaining? He paused for a split second, actually considering it.

Nope. Definitely her. Zero doubt.

— Alright, listen. One more time. Which one is Thursday? Tuesday or Thursday? —he said, for like the eleventh time in under two minutes, his voice already carrying that tired, “I’m about to lose it” energy.

He let out a long sigh, rubbing his face like this was physically draining him. This wasn’t even a hard topic. This was basic. BASIC. And somehow they’d been stuck on the same thing forever.

Rin stared at her for a second, waiting… hoping… praying for a miracle.

Nothing.

At this point, he was seriously reconsidering his life choices. Like, how did he even end up here? Teaching English. In his own room. At this hour. To someone who still thought “she are” sounded right.

He dropped back against the bed with a groan, staring up at the ceiling like it might have answers. Yeah… he was not surviving this.
